  • things getting funny

though i hate all the hoopla surrounding the US elections, i am starting to enjoy to little rants and diatribes that pop up every once in a while. the election is so divisive. I am trying to understand, really understand why anyone would vote Republican right now, but I can't. I really can't. And I have tried. Yeah, Obama is change and all that, but there are a few things about him that i find less than convincing, yet I cannot even start to sway towards the Republicans, cos... well it seems that they are really just bastards. Elections are all about relating to people. And the Republicans do not relate to me. Oh wait a minute. I am getting it. If I was (white) middle class, leaving in the bible belt or states close to it and believe that Dinosaur bones were either placed on this earth to test our faith or that they walked amongst us on 2000 years ago, and that the end times are coming cos some guy wrote it down in Revelations then I would vote for the Republicans. What about policies? Who cares? Cos frankly, I have not really heard much about policies lately, thought that may have something to do with me switching channels anytime that any news report starts to talk about the elections. Decent, sensible people know who should win this election, the emphasis here being on sensible. People need to let go of issues like religion and oh maybe i shouldn't say it... abortion. These are down to individuals choices and governments should not have a say on these topics. What government should be doing is telling you and me, preferably in baby talk exactly what caused the credit crunch and why we (well you and me in a few months probably) have to spend our (future) hard earned dollars to give to banks so that they can survive and do what they do all over again.

This guy has a point. We need to acknowledge that being intelligent is a good thing. And being intelligent with the humility to explain to us lay people exactly why we should not let the banking system collapse and start anew would be a wonderful attribute.

Moreover, with this whole Palin thing, is she or is she not ready to be vice president. If she is, let the media at her. If she isn't, find someone who is ready. But you cannot rap her in cotton wool for the rest of the campaign... or can you? Maybe she is serving her purpose. She has us talking about Hockeymoms and Milfs, instead of foreign policy experience, though I see she was in NYC today getting tips from foreign leaders, who were probably thinking: "hmmm, i'd hit that". Maybe this was the Republican plan. If so, then oh dear oh hear. I can just say that the Republicans are insulting the intelligence of the US people, and for those who have joined the McCain/Palin bandwagon, time to go back to school.

I really do think that the US is in drastic need for a third party.

  • Still not as crazy as Diddy

when i got home this morning, after my english test, different story - more about that some other time - i was listening to some pretty dope tunes, think it was Estelle, American Boy remix featuring Busta Rhymes. I have to admit that I did get a little carried away and started go get down in my kitchen, come on you've all done it. I thought i was crazy for a second, but then realised that when you feel the need to get down, you really got to do it. So i did. And it was great. But i did not take a video recorder and then post it on my webiste unlike my fellow get-downer P Diddy, who seems to eat cereal in tune with his mental faculty (fruit loops). Anyway, for your amusement, I present P Diddy.

  • Palin... who the hell is she?

The announcement of McCain's running mate caused a huge stir for about a day, then it was back to business as usual. I think that there is a real lack of understanding about the role of the vice president. Seeing as America is soon to be my adopted home, I thought that maybe it would be good to start paying some attention to what is going on over there. But I can't take it seriously. I find it hard to understand how Palin, who has been a governor for ten minutes, can actually be considered for VP, when we all know that she has a very good chance of becoming president. McCain is old, but it is not his age that is the problem, it is the fact that he is old AND sick, which does not bode well for any long term strategies he may or may not have. And that means Palin is likely to become president at some point, and then... oh shit. Why oh shit? Well let's take a look then shall we?

    Convincing huh?
Well Matt Damon came out and said pretty much what I have been thinking, and since he is a rather handsome movie star, only slight better looking than me but a hell of a lot more famous, he will get a lot more airplay than I ever would.

Having spent an incredibly amount of time speaking about the inexperience of Obama, the Republicans pick Palin. Who now states that she is being picked because she is out of the Washington scene and therefore not an established part of the political snail that is the US government, which is what Obama said is it not? I dunno, I get confused in this he said she said thing.

What really irks me about this is the fact that the US want to be taken seriously as a country spreading democracy around the globe, but then treat their own citizens like crap when it comes to their own country. Now wonder people are looking in from the outside and thinking: "well if this is what democracy turns us into, then keep it". Right now the US looks silly. Sorry but it does. And as long as they continue to play these games with their own people they will continue to look silly. Time to grow up. I know comparatively it is still a young country, but it you want to boss people around, at least have your own back yard sorted out.

And you know what you got to do right? Vote for Change. Cos another for years of Republican rule... I cannot even start to think about that right now.

  • The Return of JCVD

It has been a long time since I actually wanted to see a film by Jean Claude Van Damme, but I think that one has arrived. It takes JCVD back to Europe and it looks interesting. Have a look:
